Importance of rest

Rest is one of the most neglected forms of self-improvement technique that can increase our productivity. In our busy schedule, we are too busy pushing hard every day of our lives. Taking rest in between our schedules often feels like a weakness, but it is the opposite as it helps us grow stronger.

This is for someone who needs to hear this.

When you rest, what happens in your body?

With proper diet and water intake, your body starts healing. With all the days you push, you definitely harm your body. Your body needs time to recover. Our body is not like some machine, where we tighten two or three screws here and there, and it all gets fixed.

Moreover, we do not deteriorate like machines. Our bodies take us on another path, the path of eye-opening, death. I recently saw a documentary, and that guy died after doing 500 reps of squats. Of course, he was pushing hard for a long time. He did not reach 500 in a single day. When he did so many squats in a small period, his kidneys failed to perform their tasks. This lead to his death. The main reason for his death was he did not take enough rest and also water.

Your organs and body need time to heal.

So if you are out there pushing hard, remember to take in breaks and have a rest day too. The best pattern is six days of work and one day's rest.

Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You can not serve from an empty vessel. — Eleanor Brownn
